Tools Menu (Sheet Level)
With the Variable Browser you can browse variables throughout the active part and where appropriate, throughout all objects and files. For example, when defining driving dimensions/variables using the Part Attributes Form, the scope of variable browsing is limited to the active part. When defining a generic expression for numeric input, you can browse all objects and files within the scope of the VX Search Paths Form. The drop down list contains the currently opened files in the active session.
Only variables defined within equation sets are listed. Part histories and sketches are searched for equation sets. A part history can have multiple equation sets while a sketch has just one. If the browser starts at the top level of a file, it will show all root parts, root sketches or root equation sets in the file.
Selecting a sketch or equation set proceeds to list the variables they contain. Selecting a part lists the sketches and equation sets in it. The name of the object being browsed is displayed in a text output area at the top of the variable browser. If you are browsing more than one object level deep, a back-pointing arrow is displayed at the top of the list. Selecting the arrow will activate the parent object for browsing.
You can display the Variable Browser at the Drawing Sheet Level to get part attribute variable names for use in sheet text variables (e.g. part_name, > part_number).
