Create a Feature Sketch

Create a Feature SketchThis is not a command.  It is a process incorporated into many commands that allow you to quickly create a sketch and use it to create a feature.  The current command is suspended while the sketch is created and then continues using the new sketch as input.
 

 

  1. When the command prompt says "... or <middle-click> to start a new sketch" do so.

  2. Select an insertion plane (datum or plane) to locate the sketch.

  3. Middle-click to continue.

    A sketch is created and activated for editing. 
     

  1. icon626.gifCreate a sketch using the tools provided.  When the sketch is complete, pick Go up to Parent Object from the Tool Bar.  This will save the sketch and resume the current command.

Plane

Select an insertion plane to locate the sketch.  It can be a datum plane or a part face.

Up

Select the Up direction of the sketch plane or middle-click to use the default direction of the insertion plane.

 

Reference Faces Edges into a SketchOrigin

Select a point to define the XY origin of the sketch plane or middle-click to accept the default origin of the selected plane.

 

Reference face edges

Check this box if you want face edges automatically referenced into the sketch when the sketch is created on a face.

 

Orient the active view

Check this box if you want the sketch plan automatically oriented with the active view.
