Introduction - Advanced Session Management

VX provides advanced session management features that are only available when the "Enable session management?" option on the Files tab of the VX Configuration Form is enabled. By default, session management is not enabled. The session management functions are grouped together and can be accessed (when active) by selecting File > Manage Session.

VX session management extends the basic file management functions by allowing you to backup, clear, restore, open, delete and save your active session. Other functions are also available. It is highly recommended that you become familiar with basic VX operations before using the advanced session management functions. Also review the reference topics listed below before continuing.

Tips & Techniques

Tips & TechniquesIt is important to remember that the active session only contains portions of VX files that you are editing (i.e., the file edits) and not the entire contents of each file.

When you perform these session management functions, you are performing them on the
active session and not on VX files.

Tips & TechniquesAlso remember that the undo and redo history is only maintained during the active session and that every time a file in the session is saved, the undo/redo history is reset.
