VX provides application menus for interfacing with the SmarTeam PDM solution. Once SmarTeam is installed and your license is verified by VX (performed automatically at VX startup), you can interface with SmarTeam from the Applications menu at the File, Object, Part, Sketch, CAM Plan and Drawing Sheet levels of VX.

 

The table below lists the VX/SmarTeam integrated functions and the VX menus that invoke them. Visit your nearest SmarTeam sales representative for more information about purchasing a SmarTeam license.

Create/Update Integration	Create a new SmarTeam integration or update an existing one. This can be run multiple times without any problems. This needs to be run the first time to create a new SmarTeam integration or when the database has been changed and the configuration needs to be updated.

 

 

 

 

 

Here are the steps required to setup the VX to SmarTeam integration. This documentation is brief. Refer to your SmarTeam documentation for additional information.

 

1. Setup a database within SmarTeam. It should include one or more classes for VX parts, sheets, sketches etc.  Refer to the PDM tab on the VX Configuration Form for the classes that should be created before connecting to SmarTeam for the first time.

 

The remaining steps are performed by VX automatically.  They are documented here for reference.

 

2. Run SmarTeam and select Tools > Lookup Tables... Open the File Type lookup table and add "VX File" as a value.

3. Within SmarTeam, select Tools > Applications Setup. Select the new file type that was added in step 2 and select Tools. Add the appropriate VX command line to the Edit and View tools (see below).

4. Run the SmarTeam "Integration Tool Setup" and select the appropriate database. Then add a new integration with the name "VX".  The image "VXlogo16-256.bmp" is located in the "\win\supp" directory on the VX install CD and should be copied into the SmarTeam icon directory.  Within the VX integration, add the desired classes. There needs to be at least one class and one of the classes needs to be set as the default.
