VX Corporation, the pioneering developer of advanced, integrated CAD/CAM solutions for engineers and industrial designers, announces the release of VX Version 9 with significant end-user enhancements for assembly modeling, developing customized feature commands, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, 3D and 2D modeling, and CAM VX Version 9 Sharpens the Cutting Edge There are subtle, customer driven enhancements throughout the package and new functionality that realizes extreme productivity gains. VX Corp has packed so much into this release it is impossible to cover everything, so lets highlight some outstanding features: Assembly Modeling Enhancements The power and ease of use of VXs assembly tools has been enhanced with an assembly cut feature, enhanced interference checking, and alignment capabilities. With the assembly cut feature, a user can perform a cut through a selection of components using either a solid or assorted components. Complementing this, VX introduces interference-based constraints where system-recognized constraints can be set dynamically by simple dragging components into alignment. The Align and Drag Component options have been streamlined for ease-of-use and additional constraint combinations have been added to the matrix of supported conditions making VX one of the most powerful Assembly Design tools available today. Customized Commands VXs new history manager GUI allows users to combine multiple history operations into a single custom command. Custom commands are a userfriendly way to leverage advanced design automation from the VX product by gathering input and parametrically driving subsequent operations. Custom Features can be copied to the 3D clipboard or saved to separate files creating Custom Feature libraries. Custom Features can be used to create families of features from a single operation. Users can even define and associate their own GUI form to complement the VX Design Automation Language. Reverse Engineering and Rapid Prototyping Enhancements For point cloud reverse engineering, a new function has been added that lets users reduce the total number of points based on a reduction tolerance in a points cloud. This is a fantastic feature for anyone wishing to translate data produced by a laser scanner into useful surface geometry. Another enhancement that will benefit all users of the new desktop rapid prototyping machines is the capability to add mesh density to faces with slight curvature which gives tighter user control over meshing. 3D Primitives For Version 9, VX introduces 3D Primitives which enable users to bypass sketching for developing 3D models. This not only increases productivity for experienced users but also provides new users a faster and easier way to become adept at 3D modeling. CAM Enhancements VX version 9 includes Advanced Hole Management that lets manufacturing users organize groups of holes and filter by diameter with accurate geometry. A New 5-axis milling operation called "Flow Cut" has been added for machining areas between two tilted walls such as is found in turbine blades. This is a highly advanced function that leverages the advantages of 5-axis milling. A new Solid Verify with built-in Rapid controls has been added. Solid Verification simulates the cutting process and the user has easy to use control to allow careful inspection of results in real time. For a quick analysis of machining results, Rapid Verify calculates and displays each fully machined process almost instantly. The new interface provides additional operation and speed controls coupled with enhanced ease of use.
